Markets in the La Dordogne region
France is famous for its vibrant markets and the Dordogne is no exception. Almost every town and larger village has a market at least once a week.
One of the best all year round markets is in Ribérac (15 minutes away) every Friday. The market offers everything from delicious gourmet delicacies, fruit and vegetables, wine, flowers, clothing, souvenirs, jewelry. There are also several cafés bordering the market which make it the perfect place to stop and soak up the atmosphere.
Between April and October there is also a weekly farmers market held every Tuesday. During the Winter there is also a truffle and fois gras market held every Friday. A night market is held during the Summer months.
Verteillac also has a small market every Saturday morning offering local vegetables, flowers, wine, fish, and cheese. During the Summer months there is also an evening producers’ market, an evening of eating and socializing in the middle of the village.
Also in Verteillac is the well known Brocante market held each first Sunday of the month. Not to be missed for picking up some bargains. You can also look at www.brocabrac.fr which list brocante day of the week or area.
